Ongoing support for the Bollington United Website
We partnered with Bollington United Football Club to create a modern, scalable digital platform for a growing grassroots football organisation. Bollington United is a community-focused club supporting players from age 4 through to adult teams, with a strong emphasis on inclusivity, development and local engagement
Client
Since launching Bollington United Football Club’s new website in 2022, we’ve continued to develop it in line with the club’s growth.
From adding e-commerce functionality to enabling online pitch bookings and managing events like holiday football clubs through WooCommerce, the site has evolved into a powerful digital hub. It’s a strong example of how treating a website as an ongoing project — rather than a one-off build — can deliver real value for both the organisation and its users.
The Original Brief
The goal was to create a professional website for Bollington United Football Club, providing core information such as club details, contact information and kit pages.
We also developed individual team pages that can be easily managed by team managers, making it simple to showcase all teams playing under the BUJFC banner.
In addition, we built a structured document library, allowing files to be categorised and accessed based on user permissions, with both private and publicly available documents.
The Challenge
The club needed more than just a brochure website. As it expanded, it required a platform that could:
- Clearly showcase a large number of teams across multiple age groups
- Provide easy access to key club information and policies
- Support community engagement and recruitment
- Enable new revenue streams (shop, events, bookings)
- Be manageable by multiple contributors (e.g. team managers)
The key challenge was creating a system that could grow with the club while remaining easy to manage.
The Solution
We designed and developed a flexible WordPress website that acts as a central digital hub for the club.
Structured team architecture
The site organises teams from junior through to adult level, making it easy for users to find relevant information and for managers to maintain their own team pages .
E-commerce & events integration
We implemented WooCommerce to power:
- Club merchandise sales (e.g. kits, accessories)
- Event bookings (holiday clubs, birthday parties, training sessions)
This transformed the website from an information source into a revenue-generating platform.
Document library with controlled access
A structured document library allows the club to manage:
- Policies and safeguarding documents
- Club development plans
- Internal resources for managers
Documents are categorised and can be restricted based on user access, supporting both public transparency and internal governance .
User-focused navigation & journeys
We created clear user pathways for key audiences:
- Parents looking to register children
- Players wanting to join teams
- Community members engaging with events
- Sponsors and partners
Features such as “Join the Club” and FAQs simplify onboarding and reduce admin workload .
Dynamic content & community engagement
The site includes regularly updated:
- News & Events
- Social Media Integration
- Community initiatives
This keeps the website fresh and reinforces the club’s role as a community hub .
The Outcome
The result is a website that evolves alongside the club:
- Supports continued growth and expansion
- Centralises operations, communication and resources
- Generates revenue through online sales and bookings
- Improves accessibility for players, parents and volunteers
- Enables non-technical users to manage content
Most importantly, it demonstrates how a grassroots organisation can treat its website as a living platform, continually adapting to meet the needs of its community.
Let’s build the right website for your business.
